THE GOODIES

About chemicals
Chemical means a substance whether by itself or in a mixture and whether manufactured or obtained from nature but does not include any living organism.

Worldwide there are about 70,000 chemicals currently in day-to-day use, with 1000 new chemicals coming into the market each year. There is no basic safety data on 43 per cent of all the chemicals in use today and that full safety information is available only on 7 per cent of these chemicals. Among the chemicals commonly used in consumer products only 25 per cent have full safety data.

More than 5000 chemicals are commonly used in toiletries and household products and they are invented in order to be sold. It is as simple as that.

Each of us now carries several hundred synthetic chemicals that were not present in the bodies of our great grandparents at the turn of the century.

About our ingredients
We use only environmentally friendly raw materials such as vinegar, baking soda, chalk, vegetable glycerine and natural essential oils that enhance the living space.

Essential oils
Essential oils are highly concentrated volatile aromatic substances extracted by distillation or expression from a single plant part. They contain anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, anti-microbial, anti-viral and antiseptic properties. In this polluted world, essential oils offer a effective way to use remedies which have been in existence since ancient times, through the tools supplied from Mother Nature herself. They allow you to be in control of the substances you put into and onto your own body.

Essential oils purify in the house by removing toxins from the air. They increase atmospheric oxygen, inhibit bacteria growth and destroy odours.

Vinegar
Vinegar was discovered more than 10,000 years ago. From ancient times to date it's been used as a condiment, a preservative, a medicine, an anti-biotic and a detergent. Vinegar is produced by fermentation of natural sugars -it can be made from any fruit, or from any material containing sugar- to alcohol and then secondary fermentation to vinegar. Hippocrates extolled its medicinal qualities and, it was probably one of our earliest remedies. Biblical references show how it was widely used for its soothing and healing properties.

As a sanitizer vinegar is effective against a broad range of bacteria, yeasts and moulds. It is biodegradable mild organic acid, which is safe to use around food and stainless steel.
